CJ rides a boat toward the Gant Bridge in San Fierro, GTA San Andreas Definitive Edition

What you need for 100% in GTA San Andreas

Getting GTA San Andreas to 100% means ticking off everything in the checklist below. The percentage sits at the bottom of the stats screen, under miscellaneous. GTABase and the PowerPyx Definitive Edition guide list the same requirements; they only count missions differently.

WhatHow manyNote
Story missionsall of them, about a hundredGTABase counts 100 including the intro and the Zero RC, Wang Cars and Verdant Meadows asset missions; PowerPyx counts 98 story missions and lists those assets separately

Interactive GTA San Andreas 100% checklist

Tick things off as you go — progress is saved only in your browser, no account needed. Missions follow the GTABase numbering (100 entries, with each pair of Catalina missions as one). Collectibles are grouped: there is no separate box for every tag, snapshot, horseshoe or oyster, since the game counts them in the stats. We do not name the 25 races or the 4 shooting range weapons because we could not find a list confirmed by two sources, so those are numbered entries. Property follows the GTABase list; PowerPyx counts it differently (24 houses and 5 hotel rooms), so keep an eye on the in-game stats as well.

ItemHow manyWhere
Gang tags (graffiti)100Los Santos; the spray can is upstairs in CJ's house
Snapshots50San Fierro; the spots glow pink from 00:00 to 05:00, and a photo counts once you get paid for it
Horseshoes50Las Venturas; some sit on rooftops, so you will need a helicopter or the jetpack
Oysters50underwater all over the state, near coastlines and bridges

Horseshoes also raise your luck stat. You can collect all of these at any time, and none of them can be missed for good.

What you do NOT need for 100%

  • taking over every gang territory (according to PowerPyx, the final mission asks for about 35% of the Los Santos territories, and all of them only matter for a Definitive Edition achievement);
  • burglary — an optional side mission, although $10,000 worth of loot gives you infinite sprint;
  • the 70 unique stunt jumps;
  • 100% progress with all six girlfriends;
  • gold in the schools — bronze is enough;
  • pool, basketball, dancing, arcade machines, casino games, the Beat the Cock triathlons, the Lowrider Challenge;
  • maxing out CJ's stats and collecting every piece of clothing.

Players call all of this "110%". Some of it is needed for achievements — see GTA San Andreas achievements.

Order of play and tips

  1. Do the vehicle side jobs early. According to GTABase, they make CJ fireproof and raise health and armor to 150, which makes the rest of the game much easier.
  2. Collect by region. Tags while you are in Los Santos, snapshots in San Fierro, horseshoes in Las Venturas, oysters later, once the whole map is open.
  3. Schools. You complete Flight School during the story mission "Learning to Fly"; according to PowerPyx, the other three open after the mission "Deconstruction". Bronze is enough for 100%.
  4. Leave property for the end. Once the money from assets and exports piles up, buy everything in one go.
  5. Save often. For the Definitive Edition, PowerPyx recommends Performance mode over Fidelity: in Fidelity some scenes can crash the game.

What 100% in GTA San Andreas unlocks

  • $1,000,000;
  • infinite ammo for every weapon;
  • double health for any vehicle CJ drives;
  • a Hydra jet on the roof of Sweet's house and a Rhino tank under the bridge on Grove Street;
  • in the Definitive Edition, the Remastered achievement.

How the Definitive Edition differs

The 2021 remaster asks for exactly what the 2004 original did: the same categories and the same collectible counts. The difference is in the achievements:

  • Remastered for 100%; …Here we go again for starting a new game after 100% (you can load your save back afterwards);
  • cheats in the Definitive Edition disable achievements, so go for 100% without codes or in a separate save slot;
  • the original San Andreas is no longer sold on Steam, so on PC it has been replaced by the Definitive Edition.

Codes for a regular playthrough are on the GTA San Andreas cheats page.

GTA San Andreas 100% FAQ

What do you need for 100% in GTA San Andreas?

Every story and asset mission, 6 vehicle side jobs, 25 races, 4 stadium events, 3 challenges, 4 schools, car export, the shooting range, all property, 3 fighting styles, plus 100 tags, 50 snapshots, 50 horseshoes and 50 oysters.

Do you have to take over every territory for 100%?

No. What the story requires is enough: about 35% of the territories before the final mission. Every territory is only needed for the Ain’t Nothing But a G Thing achievement in the Definitive Edition.

Is burglary required for 100%?

No. Burglary is an optional side mission, although $10,000 worth of loot gives CJ infinite sprint.

Is 100% in the Definitive Edition different from the original?

The requirements are the same. The Definitive Edition also awards the Remastered achievement for 100%, and cheats disable achievements.

Can I download a 100% GTA San Andreas save?

Rockstar does not distribute such saves, and third-party files may be corrupted or incompatible with your version. Doing it yourself is more reliable, and that way you are sure to get the achievements too.

What does 100% in GTA San Andreas give you?

$1,000,000, infinite ammo, double vehicle health, a Hydra on the roof of Sweet's house and a Rhino under the bridge on Grove Street.
