How to make money in GTA Online: what matters in 2026

The answer to how to make money in GTA Online changed in July 2026. With The Kortz Center Heist update, Rockstar cut payouts for several older heists (including Cayo Perico and Diamond Casino) and introduced a weekly bonus: the host gets more for the first finale completion after the Thursday update, and repeats until the next Thursday pay less.

That gives you the core strategy: don't grind one job forever. Instead, run several different heists once each per week, and back them up with businesses that earn in the background and with the weekly bonuses. The figures below come from GTABase, GTA Boss and GTA Boom guides after the 2026 changes; in-game amounts may differ.

New and broke: your first steps

  1. The Cluckin’ Bell Farm Raid. Six missions in a row, no property needed, free setup. The finale pays the host around GTA$400,000, and around 600,000 for the first run of the week.
  2. KnoWay Out. A story line from the A Safehouse in the Hills update (December 2025). It starts from a payphone in Little Seoul, no Mansion required. The finale pays around 245K (Normal) or 367.5K (Hard).
  3. Weekly challenges and bonuses. Every Thursday Rockstar multiplies payouts for certain modes. In October 2026, challenges paid 100K to 250K each, plus GTA$2M for completing all five.
  4. The original heists with friends. High-End Apartments start at 200,000, and The Fleeca Job also unlocks a trade price on the armored Kuruma, the most useful early-game car for missions.
  5. Acid Lab. The Brickade 6x6 truck is free for completing The First Dose story missions at the Freakshop; the lab equipment costs GTA$750,000.

The order is our own ranking by payout and accessibility. Heist payouts are the total finale amount before cuts, per GTABase and GTA Boss after the July 2026 changes; businesses per GTA Boss, SCUF and other guides; Daily Objectives per SCUF and GTA BOOM Wiki; Career Builder per Rockstar Support. The full list of heists with dates is on the GTA Online heists page.

Why there is no "money per hour". Guides calculate it differently, and the numbers differ by several times: for the Cocaine Lockup, GTA Boss gives about 67.5K per hour, GTA Intel 420K. So we compare one-off payouts rather than hours.

Businesses: money in the background

Businesses produce goods on their own while you do other things, and selling is a separate mission. 2026 guides most often recommend this combo:

  • Acid Lab: the cheapest production business (750K for the equipment).
  • Bunker (from 1.165M): weapons production, one of the most profitable passive businesses.
  • Cocaine Lockup (from 975K): the most profitable MC business; requires an MC Clubhouse.
  • Nightclub (from 1.08M): a warehouse where technicians bring goods from your other businesses.
  • Agency: besides the Dr. Dre contract, it builds up money in its safe.

The full table with prices and buying order is on the GTA Online businesses page. Buy businesses during weekly sales: from November 5 to 11, 2026, the Facility is 40% off, including upgrades and modifications.

How to make money solo

Almost everything in the ranking can be done on your own. 2026 guides recommend this combination for a single player:

  • Heists without a crew: the Dr. Dre contract, The Titan Job, the Cluckin’ Bell Farm Raid and KnoWay Out, once a week each for the first-completion bonus; Kortz Center can also be done solo, but some of the valuable secondary targets are out of reach for one player.
  • Cayo Perico: in between, since it has no weekly bonus. Solo you cannot take the gold in the compound (the vault opens with two keycards at the same time), so fill your bag with cocaine. Step by step in the guide Cayo Perico solo.
  • Businesses in the background: the Acid Lab, the Bunker and the Nightclub. An Acid Lab sale always uses one vehicle, which suits solo players.
  • Private sessions. Since The Criminal Enterprises update (07/26/2022), all business missions, including sales, can be played in invite-only, friend or crew sessions, so no one can wreck your delivery. The "high demand" bonus remains only in public sessions.

The order to buy businesses in as a solo player is in the guide the best businesses for solo players.

What pays this week (November 5–11, 2026)

The Heist Event is on in GTA Online. Per the Rockstar Newswire and the Rockstar Intel roundup:

  • 2X first-time completion bonus: all Original Heists, The Doomsday Heist (all acts) and The Diamond Casino Heist; 2X GTA$ on the first completion of KnoWay Out.
  • 3X GTA$ and RP: Mansion Raid; 2X GTA$ in the Community Race Series; 2X on FIB Priority File: The Black Box File.
  • Guaranteed targets: the Panther Statue on your first Cayo Perico Heist run and The Outcome of Endeavour painting in The Kortz Center Heist.
  • Challenge of the week: win an Adversary Mode for GTA$100,000.
  • 40% off: High-End Apartments, the Casino Penthouse and the Facility, including upgrades and modifications.

The next set of bonuses arrives on Thursday, November 12, at around 10:00 GMT (5:00 AM ET); Rockstar does not publish the time, this is guide data. The current list every week is on the GTA Online weekly update page.

For veterans: getting the most out of every week

  • Thursday starts a new cycle. Check the weekly update: which modes pay 2X/3X, which paintings are in Kortz Center and what's on sale.
  • One run per heist. Kortz Center, Dr. Dre, Cluckin’ Bell, The Titan Job, KnoWay Out: once a week each, to collect the weekly bonus for every one.
  • Cayo Perico in between. It has no weekly bonus, but the solo cooldown is only about 144 minutes.
  • Sell in a friends-only session when the business allows it, so other players can't wreck the delivery.
  • GTA+: GTA$500,000 every month, plus monthly bonuses and discounts. It costs $7.99 a month (PlayStation Store US and Steam, as of 10/31/2026).

Why you shouldn't look for a money glitch

Searches for "money glitch 2026" and "easy money" lead to three things: car duplication, money drops from modders and mod menus. All of them break Rockstar's rules. On PC, GTA Online has run the BattlEye anti-cheat since September 17, 2024; on consoles, Rockstar tracks abnormal account balances. The consequences range from a money and property reset to an account ban, and the player who accepted a "gift" from someone else's mod menu is at risk too. More on the GTA Online cheats and codes page.

The official paid route is Shark Cards (from $4.99 for GTA$250,000 on PlayStation Store US) and the GTA+ membership. Prices are covered on the GTA Online page.

GTA Online money FAQ

How can a new player make money fast in GTA Online?

Start with The Cluckin’ Bell Farm Raid and KnoWay Out, which need no property. Do the weekly challenges and the 2X/3X bonus modes, and put your first money into the Acid Lab or a High-End Apartment for the original heists.

What is the best solo heist for making money?

According to 2026 guides, the Dr. Dre contract from the Agency (around GTA$900K), followed by Cayo Perico and The Titan Job. Kortz Center pays the most for the first sale of the week, but it takes more than GTA$16M to set up.

What should I buy first in GTA Online?

Guides most often recommend the Agency (from GTA$2.01M): the Dr. Dre contract, a safe and workshops. If money is tight, the Acid Lab for 750K or the Kosatka for 2.2M for Cayo Perico.

Is there a money glitch in GTA Online in 2026?

Glitches come and go with patches, but using them breaks Rockstar's rules and can end with a balance reset or a ban. We don't publish them.

How much does GTA+ give you every month?

GTA$500,000 every month, plus monthly bonuses, discounts and multipliers on certain missions. The membership costs $7.99 a month.

How much can you make in GTA Online per hour?

There is no exact answer: Rockstar does not publish such data, and guides calculate it differently, with results that differ by several times. One-off payouts are a more reliable guide: the first sale of the week at Kortz Center is about GTA$1.3–2.1M, the Dr. Dre contract about 1.1M.

What do Daily Objectives give you in GTA Online?

Daily Objectives are short tasks that refresh every day. A 7-day streak pays GTA$150,000 and 20,000 RP, a 28-day streak GTA$750,000 and 50,000 RP (per SCUF and GTA BOOM Wiki; the rewards have changed over the years).
