All GTA San Andreas collectibles: what to collect for 100% and what you get

Updated: 06.11.2026 Author: Alex Rayne
View over a Los Santos suburb with palm trees and a highway at sunset in the original GTA San Andreas

GTA San Andreas collectibles: 100 tags, 50 snapshots, 50 horseshoes and 50 oysters. Where to find each set, what money and weapons they give, what order to collect them in and what is not needed for 100%.

In short
  • GTA San Andreas has four collectible sets required for 100%: 100 gang tags, 50 snapshots, 50 horseshoes and 50 oysters. That is 250 items in total.
  • Each set is tied to its own region: tags to Los Santos, snapshots to San Fierro, horseshoes to Las Venturas, and oysters to the water across the whole state.
  • Snapshots, horseshoes and oysters pay $100 each and $100,000 for the full set.
  • Tags, snapshots and horseshoes spawn weapons at a specific spot; oysters instead give maximum lung capacity and success with girlfriends.
  • The 70 unique stunt jumps are not needed for 100%.

You cannot miss any of these sets for good: they can all be collected after the story ends too. Everything else that counts toward GTA San Andreas 100% completion is on a separate page.

Gang tags: 100 in Los Santos

Tags are sprayed on foot with the Spray Can: aim at a rival tag and hold fire until the Grove Street Families tag covers it. Any order works. CJ sprays the first 6 tags in Sweet’s mission "Tagging Up Turf".

A spray can is on the roof behind CJ’s house from the very start, and another appears in the upstairs bedroom after "Tagging Up Turf". Tags are not marked on the map, so you need a list. All the spots and tips are on the gang tags page.

Snapshots: 50 in San Fierro

You take them with the Camera. A snapshot point is only visible through the viewfinder: a pink icon with a white camera. From 00:00 to 05:00 the points glow faintly even without the camera. A snapshot counts when yellow text and $100 appear.

Before San Fierro unlocks after "The Green Sabre", you get a 4-star wanted level there. Where to pick up the camera is on the GTA San Andreas snapshots page.

Horseshoes: 50 in Las Venturas

You pick up a horseshoe by running through it on foot. There are no markers on the map. Besides money, each one gives +20 Luck, but according to GTA Wiki this stat has no effect on anything in the game.

Las Venturas unlocks after "Yay Ka-Boom-Boom"; before that, entering it gets you 4 stars. Some horseshoes are on rooftops, so you will need a helicopter or the jetpack after "Green Goo". The list is on the GTA San Andreas horseshoes page.

Oysters: 50 underwater across the whole state

You collect an oyster by swimming through it. They lie near the shores, under bridges and in a few pools: Madd Dogg’s Crib, V-Rock Hotel and Tiki Motel.

After the 50th oyster, your lung capacity is maxed out and girlfriends agree to a date regardless of Sex Appeal, physique and looks. How relationships work is covered in the CJ’s girlfriends section, and all the spots are on the GTA San Andreas oysters page.

Two oysters at the Easter Basin Naval Station military base give you a high wanted level (4–5 stars) even after San Fierro unlocks.

What order to collect them in

StageWhat to collectWhen it opens up
1Tagsright away in Los Santos; easier after "Tagging Up Turf"
2Snapshotsafter San Fierro unlocks ("The Green Sabre")
3Horseshoesafter Las Venturas unlocks ("Yay Ka-Boom-Boom")
4Oysterstechnically from the start, but outside unlocked areas you get 4 stars; easiest once the whole map is open

Districts and region borders are on the GTA San Andreas map.

How much money you get and where to pick up the weapons

Snapshots, horseshoes and oysters pay $100 each plus a $100,000 bonus for the full set — $105,000 per collection, $315,000 in total. Guides do not name any cash amount for tags.

Exactly where the weapons appear: for tags, in the Johnson House kitchen on Grove Street (Ganton); for snapshots, by the Doherty Garage between the garage and the office, near Cranberry Station; for horseshoes, outside the entrance to The Four Dragons Casino on the south Strip, next to the save disk.

The reward weapons are not a one-off. GTA Wiki describes these spots as weapon spawn points, and iGrandTheftAuto and gta-sanandreas.com add that the weapons reappear after you save or leave the house. That makes them a free ammo supply. What each gun can do is covered in the GTA San Andreas weapons section.

Tips so you don’t miss anything

  • Tags. Spray each one until it is fully covered: a single tag takes about 25–30 units of paint. The on-screen message sometimes appears too early, and such a tag may not count toward the percentage. Spraying can get you a wanted level.
  • Snapshots. Zoom in on the spot. According to GTA Wiki, this lets you take it even from far away, while PowerPyx advises getting closer because the icon may not appear from a distance. The missile launchers on the aircraft carrier at Easter Basin are best shot from the railway bridge to the north, so you do not have to enter the base (snapshot No. 28 in GTA Wiki’s numbering).
  • Horseshoes. For the casino rooftops and The Camel’s Toe pyramid, take a helicopter or the jetpack you get after the “Green Goo” mission. The jetpack also speeds up rooftop snapshots (as Gamingbolt and PowerPyx suggest).
  • Oysters. According to Grand Theft Wiki, they are easy to collect from a boat or a Sea Sparrow. Before the Easter Basin military base, get ready to escape a 4–5 star wanted level.
  • Counter. The game stats show how many you have collected: items are not numbered in the world, so check against the tables on the collectible pages.

What you don’t need for 100%

The stats also list 70 unique stunt jumps, but they do not count toward the completion percentage. They pay $500 each, $35,000 in total, and the Definitive Edition has no separate achievement for them.

Rampages do not count either: San Andreas has only 5 of them, they are built for two players and exist only in the console versions, because the PC and mobile versions have no multiplayer (per GTA Wiki and Grand Theft Wiki).

Collectibles in the Definitive Edition and the mobile version

  • Definitive Edition (2021). The number, locations and rewards of all four sets are the same. There are no separate achievements for them; they count toward the Remastered achievement for 100% (see achievements).
  • DE patch of 28.02.2022. Rockstar fixed a bug that made snapshot icons visible without the camera while CJ was talking on the phone.
  • 2013 mobile version. The sources describe no differences in the collectibles; more about this version is on the GTA San Andreas mobile page.
