The GTA 6 map is the state of Leonida, the game's version of Florida. Here are the six official regions, Vice City, the Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga, and what the developers have said about the map size.
Leonida, the game's Florida
GTA 6 takes the series back to Vice City, its version of Miami, but this time it is not a standalone city. It is part of a whole state, Leonida, which Rockstar describes as "home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond". Beyond the city there are swamps, islands, a run-down coast, farm country and mountains in the north.
Vice City
The official tagline is "Everything in Excess". Vice City is still America's sunshine capital, even though the '80s are long gone. Rockstar's description mentions neighborhoods and places: Ocean Beach with its pastel Art Deco hotels, Little Cuba with its panaderías, the Tisha-Wocka flea market and VC Port, the "cruise capital of the world".
Leonida Keys
"Gateway to Paradise": a tropical island chain where life is simple and the bars are full, next to some of the most beautiful and most dangerous waters in America. This is where Jason lives at the start of the story.
Grassrivers
"Welcome to the Wetlands": "the untamable jewel of Leonida's crown". There are alligators, but Rockstar warns that the mangroves also hide more dangerous predators and strange discoveries.
Port Gellhorn
Leonida's forgotten coast, with the tagline "Live Hard": cheap motels, shuttered attractions and empty malls. The local economy runs on cheap booze, painkillers and energy drinks.
Ambrosia
"Keeping Leonida Sweet": the heart of the state, with industry and old-fashioned values. The Allied Crystal sugar refinery provides the jobs, and, as Rockstar puts it wryly, the local biker gang provides the rest.
Mount Kalaga
"Wild, Wild Country" near the state's northern border: a national landmark for hunting, fishing and off-roading. According to Rockstar's description, the woods are home to recluses and paranoiacs.
Official places by region
Every name below comes from Rockstar's official texts: the "Only in Leonida" section of the game's website, the character bios and the edition descriptions. There are no fan maps or leaked names here.
| Region | What is officially named there |
|---|---|
| Vice City | Ocean Beach (pastel Art Deco hotels), Little Cuba (panaderías), the Tisha-Wocka flea market, VC Port; Southside Vice City (from the edition descriptions) |
| Leonida Keys | a tropical island chain; Jason lives here at the start of the story, and the smuggler Brian Heder works here |
| Grassrivers | swamps and mangroves, alligators |
| Port Gellhorn | cheap motels, shuttered attractions, empty malls |

| Not tied to a region | Gambit Bay, Washington Beach, Watson Bay, Lake Leonida, Stockyard, Shore Drive / Shore Court, Leonida Penitentiary (from Lucia's bio) |
Rockstar does not say which region the names in the last row belong to, so we do not assign them at random.
Businesses open only with Ultimate Edition
Some places on the map are available only with the Ultimate Edition. According to the edition descriptions on Rockstar's website and PlayStation Store:
| Business | What it is |
|---|---|
| Rideout Customs | vehicle mods |
| One-Eyed Willie's | vehicle mods |
| Sara's Unisex Salon | hair salon |
| Stock 305 | clothing store |
| Electric Fang Tattoo | tattoo parlor: more than 50 tattoos by the FAILE collective |
| Paradise Garage | a garage in Watson Bay, together with the '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy |
Apart from Paradise Garage, Rockstar has not said where on the map these businesses are. The garage from the Vintage Vice City Pack goes to everyone who buys the game before November 20, whatever the edition.
How big the GTA 6 map is
Rockstar has not given an official area, but the developers have offered a few reference points:
| What | Comparison | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Vice City | twice the size of Los Santos in GTA 5 | Rob Nelson, Rockstar North, Flow Games interview |
| Built-up areas outside the city | about 11 times larger than in GTA 5 | same |
| The whole map | about three times the playable area of RDR 2 | The New York Times, citing Rockstar |
| Land area | "nearly as large as the playable maps of GTA 4, GTA 5, and RDR 2 combined" | Simon Parkin, Edge magazine, after interviewing Rob Nelson (the journalist's description, not a Rockstar figure) |
| Interiors | "an order of magnitude more" than in previous games | Aaron Garbut, Rockstar North, Edge magazine |
Figures like "160 km²" or "twice the size of GTA 5" that circulate online are fan estimates with no primary source. According to Nelson, the in-game map hides unexplored areas until you visit them.
