Take all 50 snapshots in GTA San Andreas and see what the full set gets you

Updated: 06.11.2026 Author: Alex Rayne
CJ rides a boat toward the Gant Bridge in San Fierro, GTA San Andreas Definitive Edition

All 50 GTA San Andreas snapshots with landmarks by San Fierro district. Where to get the camera, how to spot the points at night, how much they pay, which weapons appear in Doherty and what the Definitive Edition patch changed.

In short
  • GTA San Andreas has 50 snapshots. All of them are in San Fierro and its outskirts: Easter Bay Airport, Foster Valley, Missionary Hill, The Panopticon bridge and Whetstone.
  • You take them with the Camera. A snapshot point is only visible through the camera viewfinder.
  • A camera lies in CJ's bedroom in Johnson House and at several spots in San Fierro, where it respawns over time.
  • Each snapshot pays $100; all 50 pay $100,000 and spawn four weapons by CJ's garage in Doherty.
  • Snapshots are required for 100%. The Definitive Edition has the same number in the same places.

Where to get the camera

The first camera is at home: in CJ's bedroom on the upper floor of Johnson House in Ganton. GTA Wiki lists it there from the very start of the game, GTABase together with the spray can after the mission Tagging Up Turf, and iGrandTheftAuto simply says “CJ's bedroom”. So you can pick up the camera while still in Los Santos.

In San Fierro the camera spawns at several spots, not far from the snapshot points themselves. If you take it, it respawns after a while. According to PowerPyx, two handy permanent spots are the grass by the entrance to Easter Bay Airport and the parking lot by the radio tower on Missionary Hill. Both are close to snapshots No. 4 and No. 7.

Sources disagree on how many shots the camera holds. iGrandTheftAuto and PowerPyx say 50, so one camera covers the whole collection if you don't miss. GTA Wiki says 36. Don't waste shots: if you run out, a fresh camera is never far from the snapshot points.

How to take a snapshot and how to tell it counted

  1. Take out the camera and look through the first-person viewfinder. Without it you can't see the point during the day.
  2. Find the round pink icon with a white camera. It rotates.
  3. Zoom in so the icon is in the frame, and take the shot.
  4. The snapshot counts when yellow text appears on screen and you're paid $100.

Night hint. From 00:00 to 05:00 game time the points glow faintly pink even without the camera. That makes them easier to spot from a distance before you pull out the camera. According to GTA Wiki, at any other time the glow is visible through night-vision goggles.

When you can collect the snapshots

According to GTA Wiki, the points are there from the very start of the game, but until San Fierro unlocks after the mission "The Green Sabre", entering the city gets you a 4-star wanted level. At the end of the mission "Photo Opportunity" the game itself tells you about snapshots.

You can't miss the collection: you can shoot them in any order, even after the story ends. Check the city districts against the GTA San Andreas map.

Map: where to take all 50 snapshots

The numbers on the map match the tables below (GTA Wiki numbering). The dots are placed by in-game coordinates, so the distances between them are true to the game.

Numbering follows GTA Wiki (Fandom); GTABoss numbers them the same way. PowerPyx and other guides use different numbers, but the set of points is the same. For No. 39, 40 and 44 guides give different landmarks, so we list both.

Cash per snapshot$100paid right after the shot
Bonus for all 50$100,000$105,000 including the per-snapshot cash
Weapons4 typesspawn by CJ's garage in Doherty (Doherty Garage, near Cranberry Station), between the inactive garage and the office

The weapons in Doherty: Shotgun (pump-action), Micro SMG (Micro Uzi), Sniper Rifle and Grenades. Each one is described on the GTA San Andreas weapons page.

The weapons are not a one-off: according to iGrandTheftAuto, they reappear after you save, and GTA Wiki describes the spot as a weapon spawn point. So you can restock ammo for free by the garage.

Tips for collecting the snapshots faster

  • Be careful with No. 28. The missile launchers are on the aircraft carrier at the Easter Basin naval port. Step onto the base and you get a 5-star wanted level. PowerPyx recommends shooting from the railway bridge to the north.
  • Start at the airport. There's a camera by Easter Bay Airport, and No. 1–4 are close by. From there, head to Foster Valley and Missionary Hill (No. 5–7).
  • Garver Bridge early in the game. According to iGrandTheftAuto, the bridge is blocked by an invisible wall at first, so for snapshots No. 25–26 you will have to fly in or come back later.

An overview of all four sets is in the collectibles section, and the full task list is on the GTA San Andreas 100% page.

Do snapshots differ between versions?

  • Definitive Edition (2021). The same 50 points, the same $100,000 and the same weapons in Doherty. There's no separate achievement for snapshots; the collection counts toward the Remastered 100% achievement (see achievements).
  • DE patch of February 28, 2022. Rockstar fixed a bug that made snapshot icons visible without the camera while CJ was on the phone. The same patch removed the oversized "crown" marker on The Panopticon in the mission "Photo Opportunity".
  • The 2013 mobile version and the Netflix version. Guides describe no snapshot differences; more on these versions is on the GTA San Andreas mobile page.

GTA San Andreas snapshots FAQ

How many snapshots do you need to take in GTA San Andreas?

50. All the points are in San Fierro and its outskirts, from Easter Bay Airport to Whetstone Bridge.

Where do you get the camera in GTA San Andreas?

The nearest one is in CJ's bedroom in Johnson House (Ganton). In San Fierro it lies at several spots and respawns over time; according to PowerPyx, handy ones are the grass by the Easter Bay Airport entrance and the parking lot by the Missionary Hill radio tower.

Why can't I see the snapshot points?

The icon is only visible through the camera viewfinder. Without the camera the points can only be seen at night, from 00:00 to 05:00, when they glow faintly pink.

What do you get for all the snapshots in GTA San Andreas?

$100,000 and four weapons by CJ's garage in Doherty: Shotgun, Micro SMG (Micro Uzi), Sniper Rifle and Grenades. Plus $100 for each shot.

How do you know a snapshot counted?

Yellow text appears on screen and you're paid $100. If there's no text, zoom in on the icon and take the shot again.

Did the snapshot locations change in the Definitive Edition?

No. Same 50 points and same reward. The February 28, 2022 patch only removed a bug that made the icons visible without the camera during a phone call.
