The fastest cars in GTA Online in 2026 by Broughy1322’s tests: top speed ranking without HSW, the lap time leaders in every class, new cars after update 1.73, prices and what to buy for racing.
How car speed is measured in GTA Online
Data checked on November 6, 2026, after update 1.73. The ranking below covers standard cars without the HSW upgrade. On PS4, Xbox One and PC Legacy it is final, because those versions have no HSW; on PS5, Xbox Series and PC Enhanced the HSW versions are faster, and they have their own page: HSW cars.
Rockstar publishes neither top speeds nor lap times. Every figure on this page comes from tests by the player Broughy1322 (Adam Brough, gtacars.net), which GTABase, GTA Boss, GamesRadar and Mein-MMO all rely on.
- Top speed. The car is fully upgraded at Los Santos Customs, brought up to speed on a flat straight road and timed over a 0.2-mile section between two checkpoints. Five runs, frame-counted from video, averaged and rounded to 0.25 mph. Acceleration doesn’t count toward the result.
- Lap time. His own track, Cutting Coroners GP (longer than Rockstar’s version), with fast and slow corners. The car is fully upgraded with balanced tuning, about ten laps are driven and the best one goes into the table. No curb boosting, brake boosting or tricky lines.
- Platform. Tests are done on the Expanded & Enhanced version (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC Enhanced); according to the author, frame rate doesn’t affect the result.
Broughy1322 himself says top speed has little effect on race results, so for racing look at lap times.

Next, according to GTA Boss, comes the Itali GTO Stinger TT (132 mph). Until July 2026 the Banshee GTS was first among standard cars; two new arrivals from The Kortz Center Heist update moved ahead of it.
For reference, bikes: the Western Reever is called the fastest at about 163 mph, but only GTA Boss gives that figure.
Why the Vigilante, Scramjet and Open Wheel cars aren’t ranked
Different sites name different “fastest” cars, because some count everything that drives and others only cars for standard races. We left out vehicles you can’t start a standard race in:
- Rocket-boost cars: the Grotti Vigilante (146.75 mph, 236.2 km/h; GTA$3,750,000, Warstock Cache & Carry) and the Declasse Scramjet.
- Arena War weaponized cars: for example, the Annis ZR380 (142 mph per GTA Boss and Mein-MMO).
- Pegassi Toreador: guides don’t include it in race rankings either.
- Open Wheel cars (BR8, PR4, DR1, R88): they have their own races.
Some lists put the Progen Luiva first. In fact it only leads among supercars without HSW on straight-line speed, not the whole game. The absolute record among cars is the Bravado Banshee GTS with HSW at 172.5 mph (277.6 km/h), and it is only available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC Enhanced.

Lap times shift between retests. The Emerus did 0:58.291 in 2023, 0:57.823 in June 2026 and 0:57.624 in August. We use the latest figures (August–October 2026).
The best example that the straight isn’t everything: the Cartuccia GT is first on top speed (139 mph), but its lap is only 1:00.777. The Emerus is noticeably slower on the straight, yet laps three seconds faster.

Dates are from Rockstar’s 1.73 patch notes, prices from GTABase. The September 17 date for the Horus comes from GTABase only; Rockstar mentioned a week of GTA+ early access through The Vinewood Car Club.
A word of caution on the Horus: you’ll see 109.67 mph quoted online. That’s a value from the game files, not a test, and it doesn’t reflect real speed. As of November 6, 2026, Broughy1322 has no tests for either the standard or the HSW Horus. The other 2026 additions (E-Stride, Merula, Läufer) are on the GTA Online cars page.
What to buy: for racing and for cruising
- For standard races: the Progen Emerus, with the best lap among supercars without HSW or boost. A newer alternative is the LRC GT (0:58.275), and the FMJ MK V (0:57.774) is barely behind the Emerus.
- For driving around the city and on straights: the Cartuccia GT, fastest on the straight and almost 700K cheaper than the Veleno GT. On a tighter budget, the Ocelot Pariah for 1,420,000 does 136 mph.
- On PS5, Xbox Series and PC Enhanced: the Banshee GTS, which with HSW is the fastest car in the game. HSW also works in races that allow HSW cars, unless the host turns it off in the lobby (GTABase, Rockstar patch notes as reported by Sportskeeda).
