GTA 6 100% completion: what a full playthrough will include and what we already know

Updated: 05.11.2026 Author: Alex Rayne

Rockstar hasn't shown what counts toward 100% completion in GTA 6 yet. We break down how the full checklist worked in GTA 5 and RDR2, which GTA 6 activities have already been officially shown, and what 100% will most likely include. We'll publish the real checklist after November 19.

In short
  • As of November 5, 2026, Rockstar hasn't said whether GTA 6 will have a 100% tracker or what it will include.
  • In GTA 5 and RDR2, 100% was made up of the story, side storylines, hobbies, random events and collectibles, and in RDR2 also challenges and the compendium.
  • GTA 6 has already officially shown racing, fishing and hunting, the gym, diving with treasure hunting, robberies and more than 170 animal species.
  • The story is split into chapters, and according to the developer some optional tasks affect the story.
  • We'll publish an interactive GTA 6 100% checklist after November 19, once we've seen the game's menu.

Will GTA 6 have 100% completion

Officially, it's unknown. Rockstar hasn't published a checklist or described GTA 6's progress menu. Both of the studio's previous big games had a completion percentage:

  • in GTA 5: in the pause menu under Stats → 100% Checklist, with the Career Criminal achievement as the reward;
  • in Red Dead Redemption 2: in the Progress → Total Completion menu, with the Best in the West achievement as the reward.

GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Below is what 100% meant in GTA 5 and RDR2 and what's already known about GTA 6's content.

How 100% worked in GTA 5 and RDR2

This is data on Rockstar's previous games, not on GTA 6. Rockstar doesn't publish official checklists, so the breakdown is based on GTABase and PowerPyx guides.

CategoryGTA 5Red Dead Redemption 2
Storyall 69 missions, any ending countsall main missions across 6 chapters and two epilogues
Side storylinesFranklin's 20 Strangers and Freaks missionsany 10 Strangers storylines through to the end
Hobbies and events42 specific hobbies, any 14 random events5 sheriff bounties, 25 random encounters, 6 gang hideouts
Collectibles50 spaceship parts, 50 letter scraps, half of the stunt jumps and bridges20 dreamcatchers, cigarette cards, bones, drawings, 9 graves
Animals—the compendium, any 5 of the 16 legendary animals
Challenges—90 (9 categories of 10)
RewardCareer Criminal, a "100%" T-shirt, UFOs, the mission "The Last One"Best in the West and a short cutscene

An important lesson from both games: 100% doesn't mean "do everything". According to PowerPyx, GTA 5's 100% takes roughly two-thirds of the content: the Epsilon storyline, nuclear waste and the second half of the stunt jumps aren't on the checklist. And in RDR2 many items are your choice, for example any 5 of the 16 legendary animals.

Full checklists with checkboxes are on the GTA 5 100% and RDR2 100% pages.

GTA 6 activities that are already officially known

Here's what Rockstar has shown in the trailers and in the 27-minute An Extended Look (August 27, 2026), or what developers have named in interviews:

Golf and boxing don't appear in official materials or verified press coverage. Judging by the showcase, tennis isn't a minigame. More on the GTA 6 side activities and GTA 6 animals pages.

The story and optional tasks

Three facts about the campaign that matter for 100%:

  • The story is split into chapters. Rockstar Support says Ultimate Edition content unlocks "with each chapter" of Jason and Lucia's story. How many chapters there are isn't stated.
  • There are optional tasks with consequences. Rob Nelson told The New York Times that in about 80 hours he finished the main story and some of the optional tasks that affect the story.
  • Missions alone aren't enough. According to Nelson in his Famitsu interview, story missions on their own won't give you enough money to progress through the story, so you'll have to earn it in the open world.

The story without spoilers is on the GTA 6 story page, and the structure of the campaign is on the GTA 6 missions page.

Checklist: what GTA 6 100% will likely include

This is our forecast, not a list from the game. Each item is based on what's already been shown in GTA 6 and on how 100% was counted in GTA 5 and RDR2:

Likely categoryWhat's already known in GTA 6How it worked before
Storythe campaign is split into chaptersin both games, all story missions
Side storiesoptional tasks with consequences for the storyStrangers and Freaks in GTA 5, Strangers in RDR2
Races and hobbiesstreet and off-road races, monster trucks, parasailing, skydiving42 hobbies in GTA 5
Animals, fishing, hunting170+ species, legendary animals, studying animalsthe compendium and legendary animals in RDR2
Crime in the worldrobbing stores and banks, gang stashesstore robberies in GTA 5, gang hideouts in RDR2
CollectiblesRockstar hasn't shown anypresent in both games

Once the game is out, we'll replace this table with the real checklist from the GTA 6 menu.

What we'll update on November 19 and in the first days

  • Whether the game has a 100% tracker and where it is in the menu.
  • The full breakdown by category, as in the game, with the English names.
  • An interactive checklist with checkboxes, like the ones for GTA 5 and RDR2: your progress will be saved in your browser.
  • What's permanently missable and what stays available after the story.
  • The reward for 100% and how many hours it takes, on the how long to beat GTA 6 page.

Subscribers to our Telegram channel @gtatop_news will hear about the update first. Unofficial "GTA 6 100% checklists" exist, but we don't reproduce them because they're unconfirmed. The 100% trophy, if there is one, will appear on the GTA 6 trophies page.
