The fastest cars in GTA 4 by game file and by player tests, where to find the Sultan RS, Turismo, Super GT and Bullet GT, helicopters and boats, police vehicles, 30 cars for Stevie and the new vehicles in the episodes.
How many vehicles are in GTA 4
GTABase lists 177 models in GTA 4 including the episodes. If you add up the vehicles.ide entries listed on GTA Wiki, you get 185 (127 in the base game, 25 in The Lost and Damned, 33 in The Ballad of Gay Tony), but that includes variants, cut and cutscene-only models. The honest answer is "about 180 models".
Fastest cars in GTA 4: table
Ranks are by top speed from the handling.dat game file, as in the GTABase ranking. Same speed, same rank. Other guides number them differently because they use other figures.
| Rank | Car | Real-life inspiration | Available in | Game file | Player tests (GTA Wiki) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Bullet GT (Vapid) | Ford GT | TBOGT | 163 km/h (101 mph) | — |
| 2 | Banshee (Bravado) | Dodge Viper | GTA IV and episodes | 160 km/h (99 mph), GTABase only | — |
| 2 | Comet (Pfister) | Porsche 911 (996) | GTA IV and episodes | 160 km/h (99 mph) | 169 km/h (105 mph) |
| 2 | Coquette (Invetero) | Chevrolet Corvette C5 | GTA IV and episodes | 160 km/h (99 mph) | 160 km/h (99 mph) |
| 2 | Infernus (Pegassi) | Lamborghini Murciélago | GTA IV and episodes | 160 km/h (99 mph) | 151 km/h (94 mph) |
| 2 | Turismo (Grotti) | Ferrari 360 / F430 | GTA IV and episodes | 160 km/h (99 mph) | — |
| 2 | Super Diamond, Super Drop Diamond (Enus) | — | TBOGT | 160 km/h (99 mph), per GTABase | — |
| 2 | Police Stinger | — | TBOGT, multiplayer only (per GTABase) | 160 km/h (99 mph), per GTABase | — |
| 9 | Super GT (Dewbauchee) | Aston Martin DB9 | GTA IV, TBOGT (in TLAD by cheat only) | 155 km/h (96 mph) | 138 km/h (86 mph) |
| 9 | F620 (Ocelot) | — | TBOGT | 155 km/h (96 mph) | — |
| 11 | Sultan RS (Karin) | Lexus IS / Subaru Impreza | GTA IV and episodes | 150 km/h (93 mph) | 137 km/h (85 mph) |
Inspirations are per GTA Wiki and GTABase. The game’s cars are unlicensed, so this is about design resemblance. For some models the sources name different cars: GTA Wiki traces the Turismo to the Ferrari 360 with F430 details, GTABase to the F430; GTA Wiki calls the Sultan RS a Lexus IS with Subaru Impreza touches, GTABase a Lancer Evolution and Lexus IS; the Super GT as an Aston Martin DB9 comes from GTA Wiki.
The fastest motorcycle in the base game is the NRG 900 (per GTA Wiki and GTABase); in The Lost and Damned newer bikes outpace it, per GTABase the Hakuchou Custom and Double T Custom. Among the episode bikes, the regular Hakuchou (TLAD and TBOGT) is fast: 150 km/h by game file, per GTA Wiki. The fastest boat in the Complete Edition, per GTABase, is the Smuggler from TBOGT; in the base game it is the Jetmax.
Why fastest car rankings disagree
- Game file (GTABase, the handling field on GTA Wiki): one number per model. By that measure five cars in base GTA 4 are equal, so you cannot call the Comet alone "the fastest".
- Player tests (observed speed on GTA Wiki): actual speed on the road. Here the Comet beats the Infernus, and the Super GT and Sultan RS are noticeably slower than the file says.
- Random rankings online often give figures like "Infernus: 360 km/h". Those are unit mistakes; ignore such numbers.
The Police Stinger is formally in the table, but per GTABase it was only in multiplayer. The Complete Edition no longer has multiplayer.
Where to find the best cars
| Car | Where | Conditions and details |
|---|---|---|
| Sultan RS | Westdyke, Alderney | in the bushes behind the garage of an abandoned mansion at the end of a dirt road in the north of the island; also shows up in Brucie's races and in traffic if you are already driving a Sultan RS |
| Turismo | Beachgate, Broker | by a mansion in a gated community east of Funland |
| Turismo | Middle Park East, Algonquin | the Grotti dealership near the safehouse: eight Turismos; stealing one gives 1 star, and the doors are locked at night |
| Comet | mission | reward after the No. 1 mission (a race against Brucie in Stevie's Comet); rarely in Algonquin traffic |
| Infernus | Liberty City | does not appear in traffic right away: per GTA Wiki after the Buoys Ahoy mission, per GTABase after delivering an Infernus to Stevie; in TBOGT it is common in central Algonquin |
| Super GT | The Exchange, Algonquin | rare: parked on the street next to the Bank of Liberty; it is a Stevie job car (see below); also in the Union Drive mission; or a cheat |
| Bullet GT | TBOGT | Enrique Bardas delivers it after the No. 3 mission; also a prize for winning the This Ain't Checkers race and triathlons; or a cheat |
| F620 | TBOGT | Enrique Bardas delivers it after the No. 3 mission (per GTA Wiki) |
| Super Diamond | Algonquin, TBOGT | in traffic after all TBOGT story missions (per GTABase) |
| Super Drop Diamond | Algonquin, TBOGT | Columbus Avenue after the For the Man Who Has Everything mission (per GTABase) |
Phone numbers to spawn the Comet, Super GT, Turismo, Bullet GT, Annihilator, Buzzard, Jetmax and other vehicles are on the GTA 4 cheats page.

Where to find the pigeons for the Annihilator: see the GTA 4 pigeons guide.
Police and emergency vehicles
According to GTA Wiki's model table, the base game has the Police Cruiser, Police Patrol, NOOSE Cruiser, NOOSE Patriot, FIB Buffalo, Enforcer and Police Stockade, the Police Predator on water and the Police Maverick in the air. Emergency vehicles include the Ambulance and Fire Truck.
A Police Cruiser or Police Patrol is parked outside any police station in all four boroughs. The most cars are behind the station at Francis International Airport. You can also call 911 and choose "Police".
The Ballad of Gay Tony adds the APC, Police Bike, Police Stinger and a new Buffalo-based Police Cruiser.
Stevie's Car Thefts: 30 cars for Stevie
- How to unlock: unlock the Alderney safehouse and complete the missions Smackdown (Derrick McReary) and No. 1 (Brucie).
