The GTA 6 phone: which apps Rockstar's videos and developer interviews have confirmed — banking, a car scanner, vehicle delivery, a taxi that doubles as fast travel, fitness, video and the Snapmatic social feed. Why Jason and Lucia can't post photos, and what's still just rumor.
What's officially known about the phone
Rockstar hasn't published a full list of apps. The phone appears in the Extended Look video (August 27, 2026), and most of the details came from Rob Nelson (Rockstar North) in interviews with Famitsu and IGN; NYT and Edge magazine described a few more. Interview details describe a preview build and may change before the November 19 release.
| App | What it does | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Banking | Account balance, separate from the cash you carry | Nelson (Famitsu) |
| Car scanner | Lock, alarm, tracker, fence and Pay 'n' Spray value, registration cost | Nelson (IGN) |
| Scooter Bros | Vehicle delivery | Famitsu, Edge |
| Ryde Me | Calls a taxi, works as fast travel | Nelson (IGN) |
| Fitness | Tracks your shape and workouts | Famitsu |
| Video | Watching clips, including short vertical video | Rockstar video, Famitsu |
| Snapmatic | Social feed: influencers, celebrities, people the leads know | Famitsu, NYT |
| Messages | Texts between the leads and contacts | Rockstar video, Famitsu |
The press refers to the scanner as WAINK. Rockstar hasn't used that name itself, so we just call it the "car scanner".
The phone as an object in the game world
In GTA 5 the phone opened as a flat interface in the corner of the screen. In GTA 6 your character takes the phone out and holds it, and you see the screen within the scene itself. According to Famitsu, messages appear as "bubbles" next to the characters.
It's not just cosmetic. The phone ties into the relationship system: if you play as one lead all day, the other texts you, and ignoring them slightly hurts the relationship. More on how switching between Jason and Lucia works in our GTA 6 gameplay section.
Banking and money on your phone
In GTA 6 money is split into cash on hand and a bank account, and you can see the balance in the banking app. The difference matters: after "Wasted" or "Busted" your character loses all their cash, while the account stays intact. So it's best to deposit your take as soon as you can.
Some sites call the banking app BuckMe, but we haven't come across that name in official material or developer quotes. How to make money in the first days is in our guide on how to make money in GTA 6.
Car scanner, delivery and taxi
The car scanner is the big addition for car thieves. Point your phone at a car and you'll see:
- whether it's locked;
- whether it has an alarm and a tracker;
- how much a fence will pay for it and how much a Pay 'n' Spray repair costs;
- how much it will cost to register it in your name.
A tracker on a stolen car gives away your position if you drive slowly, so the scanner helps you decide whether it's worth getting behind the wheel at all. How police search for stolen cars is explained on our GTA 6 wanted level page.
Scooter Bros delivers a car to wherever you are. Ryde Me is the in-game take on ride-hailing apps: you book a ride, and it works as fast travel. The map of Leonida is big, so this is one of the main ways to avoid driving across the whole state yourself. Regions are on the GTA 6 map.
Snapmatic: why the leads can't post photos
Snapmatic in GTA 6 is the feed of a local social network: influencers, celebrities and people Jason and Lucia know. You can scroll through posts, but the leads themselves don't post anything. The reason is simple: they're fugitives, and an extra digital footprint is the last thing they need.
You can still take photos: you're allowed to send a shot to your partner. Social media and vertical video take up a noticeable share of the GTA 6 trailers — it's part of the satire of modern-day Florida. More about the story and the world in our GTA 6 story section.
What's still just rumor
Lists of "all GTA 6 apps" on other sites include names Rockstar hasn't confirmed:
- WhatUp, Fruit Pay — presented as "possible";
- LifeInvader, Bleeter — social networks from GTA 5 and GTA IV whose return nobody has officially announced;
- website names found in registered domains — these are guesses, not apps from the game.
Some of these lists rely on the leaked material from 2022. We don't use it. We'll update this page after launch, when every app can be checked first-hand.
What apps are on the GTA 6 phone?
Based on Rockstar's video and developer interviews: banking, a car scanner, Scooter Bros vehicle delivery, Ryde Me taxis, fitness, video, messages and the Snapmatic feed. Rockstar hasn't published a full list.
Can you post photos on Snapmatic in GTA 6?
No. You can scroll the feed, but the leads can't post because they're in hiding. You're allowed to send a photo to your partner.
Does GTA 6 have fast travel?
According to Rob Nelson, yes: calling a taxi through the Ryde Me app works as fast travel.
What does the car scanner on the phone show?
Whether the car is locked, whether it has an alarm and a tracker, its value at a fence and at Pay 'n' Spray, and the cost of registering it in your name.
Will GTA 6 have LifeInvader?
Officially, no — Rockstar hasn't announced it. The confirmed social network in GTA 6 is Snapmatic.
