What Bully: Anniversary Edition is
Anniversary Edition is the mobile version of Bully that Rockstar Games made with War Drum Studios for the game's tenth anniversary. It came out on December 8, 2016 on the App Store and Google Play at the same time.
Content-wise it is not a cut-down port: you get the full game plus the Scholarship Edition bonuses, four extra subjects (Biology, Music, Geography, Math) and additional missions. The graphics are better than on PS2, roughly on par with the Xbox 360 version; the clock, map and interface were redrawn. The controls were reworked for touchscreens.
The game is still in the stores and still gets updates: the latest Android build came out on January 21, 2026. It has more than 5 million downloads on Google Play and an average rating of 4.7 from about 14,000 ratings on the US App Store.
The full list of jobs is on the Bully missions page, and what each subject gives is on the Bully classes page.
How much Bully costs on mobile
At launch in 2016, Anniversary Edition was a regular paid game for $6.99. Today it works differently:
- The download is free, and the first 30 minutes of play work as a trial.
- After that, a one-time purchase of "Anniversary Edition Full Game": $6.99 on the App Store (US).
- Or GTA+: since May 1, 2025, subscribers unlock the game without limits for as long as it is in the GTA+ library. To do that, sign in to the game with a Rockstar Games account and choose to unlock it through GTA+.
In the US the full game is $6.99; in other countries, check the price on the game's page in your local App Store or Google Play. GTA+ is aimed mainly at GTA Online, so subscribing just for Bully usually doesn't pay off; more on the Rockstar and GTA+ page.
System requirements and versions

|---|---|---|
| Current requirements | iOS / iPadOS 13.0 or later; on Mac, macOS 11+ and an Apple M1 chip or newer | Google Play shows compatibility for your device on the game page |
| At launch (2016) | iOS 9; iPhone 5 and newer, iPod touch 6, iPad 4+, iPad mini 2+, iPad Pro | selected devices |
| Size | 2.4 GB | shown by Google Play |
| Latest version | 1.4.1 (May 1, 2025) | 1.4.311 (updated Jan 21, 2026) |
| Ratings | 4.7 from about 14K ratings (US App Store) | 5M+ downloads |
| Age rating | App Store: 12+ or 13+ depending on the country; ESRB Teen, PEGI 16 | ESRB Teen, PEGI 16 |
We don't give an official minimum Android version: Google Play shows it only for a specific device, and online catalogs list different numbers. The simplest way is to open the game's Google Play page on your phone: if the device isn't supported, the store will tell you.
The game supports several languages: English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish and others; the full list is on the App Store page. English is the original language, so nothing is missing for English-speaking players.
Controllers, vibration and controls
Anniversary Edition has supported physical controllers since launch. Rockstar later released an update that fixed problems with Bluetooth controllers. Some Google Play reviews complain that diagonal movement may not work with controllers other than Xbox ones, so test your controller during the 30-minute trial before buying.
On iPhone 7 and newer the game uses the Taptic Engine; on Android, regular vibration. According to player reviews, the frame rate is capped at 30 FPS.
Cloud saves and Friend Challenges
Progress is saved to the cloud through Rockstar Games Social Club, now the Rockstar Games account. That lets you continue on another device.
The local two-player mode from Scholarship Edition did not make it to mobile. Instead there are Friend Challenges: turn-based online contests with friends in classes and arcade games. According to Bully Wiki, they come with their own achievements (Back to School, Head of the Class, Honor Roll, Bookworm and others). We found no recent confirmation that the servers for this mode still work.
How to start playing Bully on your phone
- Find Bully: Anniversary Edition on the App Store or Google Play and install it. On iPhone you need about 2.4 GB of free space.
- Play the 30-minute trial: that is enough to see how the game runs on your device and with your controller.
- To keep playing, buy "Anniversary Edition Full Game" in the store, or sign in with a Rockstar Games account and unlock the game through GTA+ if you subscribe.
- Sign in to your Rockstar Games account so your saves go to the cloud.
Get the game only from the official stores: files from other sites are unofficial copies, and they won't get updates.
Anniversary Edition vs. PS2 and Scholarship Edition
| PS2 (and PS4/PS5) | Scholarship Edition | Anniversary Edition | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Subjects | 6 | 10 | 10 |
| Missions (full Bully Wiki list) | 70 | 78 | 78 |
| Errands | 50 | 50 | 48 |
| Two-player | — | local mode | online Friend Challenges |
| Controls | controller | controller, plus keyboard on PC | touchscreen or controller |
If you want the full version with all the extra missions and classes, the mobile Anniversary Edition gives you the same as Scholarship Edition on PC or Xbox. Where to buy the other versions and how much they cost in the US is on the main Bully page.
How the mobile version is different
According to Bully Wiki, Anniversary Edition has a few small changes compared with Scholarship Edition:
- rats don't appear in the open world;
- cars don't show damage, so 2 errands that involve smashing cars were removed, leaving 48 instead of 50;
- go-karts drive through people.
The story, missions and classes are the same as in Scholarship Edition.
Are there Bully cheats on mobile
Rockstar has said nothing about cheat codes in the mobile version, and the game has no cheat menu. On consoles, Bully codes are entered on a second controller; there is no official confirmation that they work in Anniversary Edition with a connected controller, and guides disagree on it. The PS2 and Xbox 360 codes themselves are on the Bully cheats page.
"Modded" versions of the game with cheats or money are pirated copies from third-party sites. Installing them on your phone is risky, and the legal game is available on the App Store and Google Play.
