How to enter a cheat on PS4 and PS5
- Start Story Mode.
- Leave the mission if the game blocks the cheat. In some missions and areas the screen shows “Cheat Denied”.
- Press the combo quickly, with no pauses between buttons. You can enter it during gameplay or in the pause menu.
Symbols in the tables: X is Cross, ○ is Circle, △ is Triangle, □ is Square. L1 and R1 are the shoulder buttons, L2 and R2 are the triggers.
The other route is the protagonist’s phone: D-pad up → Contacts → □ (opens the keypad) → number → call. “*” on the keypad repeats the last cheat. Numbers for every cheat are on the GTA 5 phone numbers page.
PS4 vs PS5: what is different
What differs between PS3, PS4 and PS5:
- The phone on PS3. Guides disagree: GTABase says only buttons work on PS3, PC Gamer says the numbers work on any system. On PS3, buttons are the safer bet.
- Duke O’Death, Kraken and Dodo. These three vehicles can only be spawned by phone and arrived in the PS4 and newer versions.
- Rockstar Editor. It was removed from PS4 on February 20, 2024. There you open Director Mode through the Interaction Menu (hold the touchpad) or by dialing 1-999-5782-5368. On PS5 the pause menu → Rockstar Editor → Director Mode route also works.

PlayStation trophies and cheats
According to Rockstar Support, with a cheat on you can save, but trophies are temporarily disabled. According to the guides, this lasts until the end of the current session: restart the game or load a save and trophies are available again.
Cheats do not affect 100% completion. But in a mission with an active cheat the best you can get is a bronze medal, so play missions you want gold on without codes.
GTABase and GTA Boom advise saving to a separate slot before using cheats and never overwriting it. That way you can always go back to a cheat-free game.

Why a cheat is not working on PS4 or PS5
- You are in GTA Online. Codes work only in Story Mode.
- Arrows on the stick. You need the D-pad.
- A pause between buttons. The combo has to be pressed quickly, in one go.
- An Xbox code. Many guides list the Xbox codes with A, B, LB, RT right next to them. On PlayStation, use only the column from the tables above.
- “Cheat Denied”. Cheats are blocked in this mission or area. Finish or leave the mission.
- Rapid GT. Try the second version of the code with a doubled R2.
- The cheat was already on. Entering the same code again usually turns it off rather than on a second time.
- Not enough room. Vehicles won’t spawn indoors, underground or in a cramped spot. Move to open ground and enter the code again.
If the buttons just will not work, dial the number on the phone: it is harder to get wrong.
How to turn a cheat off
Enter the same code again. Rockstar Support says this usually, but not always, turns the cheat off. Loading a save or restarting the game is more reliable: it resets all cheats at once. Starting a mission also turns off cheats that were active outside it.

How do I get weapons with a cheat on PS4?

Do cheats block trophies on PS4 and PS5?

Why are cheats not working on PS4?
Most often it’s the stick instead of the D-pad, pauses between buttons or a mission with “Cheat Denied”. All the causes are in the “Why a cheat is not working on PS4 or PS5” section above.
Is there a money or tank cheat in GTA 5?
No. There is no money cheat in story mode or in GTA Online. You can’t spawn a tank with a cheat either: according to GTABase, the Rhino tank code from older games now gives you the Buzzard helicopter. The biggest money in story mode comes from the stock market around Lester’s assassinations; other ways are in the how to make money in GTA 5 guide.
